Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace St. Petersburg presents the Ultimate Winter Experience: now guests can combine the visit to St. Petersburg with its rich cultural life and magnificent monuments of architecture and art masterpieces with adrenalin-filled days of Formula 1-style driving on a frozen lake in Swedish Lapland.
Imagine drifting at more than 200 km/h (125 mph) in total safety on a full-scale F1 circuit reproduced on a frozen lake, behind the wheel of an exceptional car, under the Northern Lights of Swedish Lapland. This is the Lapland Ice Driving experience.
Discover a place of surprising beauty and authenticity, with lakes as far as the eye can see, surrounded by immense forests of snow-covered pines and arctic tundra. Welcome to Arjeplog, the European capital of extreme weather car testing, 70 kilometres from the Arctic Circle. For just 14 weeks each winter, the surface of the frozen Lake Udjaur is transformed into an enormous 1,250 acre drifting area, making it the world’s largest driving centre.
Thanks to personalised in-car instruction, guests will perfect their skills and master drifting by driving up to 250 kilometres per day – the equivalent of an F1 Grand Prix. And even with this amount of driving, guests will still not have exhausted their abilities on all the circuits. Indeed, they will have the unique chance to try 11 different tracks, including, exclusive and officially licensed, the most legendary F1 circuits, reproduced full-scale: Silverstone, Nürburgring and Paul Ricard.
No barriers, no walls, nothing in the way – just fresh snow alongside the track. Everything is designed to allow limitless extreme driving, whether a beginner or experienced driver. Four Seasons guests will conquer the ice behind the wheel of one of 30 exceptional cars, each specially prepared for extreme driving conditions: Lamborghini, Porsche, Maserati, Nissan GT-R, Subaru or Alfa Romeo.
Everything is done so that guests can personalise their stay down to the smallest detail. Travel in a private jet between St. Petersburg and Arvidsjaur, helicopter transfer from the airport to the facilities, driving sessions in the most exciting sports cars, personal in-car coaching, lunches and dinners in a private lounge, complimentary cocktail in the evening and a night in an iglootel.
And on the way back, guests can also stay in St. Petersburg for another couple of days and complete their unique itinerary with additional tours in the city, while enjoying the comfort of Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace with its beautiful rooms, creative culinary delights and holistic Spa.
In 2016, the Ice Driving Experience is available between January 9 and March 20.
