This summer, The Peninsula New York has added a new family-friendly activity to its iconic experiential program, The Peninsula Academy, to take place at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum called Inside the Intrepid: A Legendary Experience. A National Historic Landmark located in New York City, the Intrepid Museum is a non-profit, educational institution featuring the legendary aircraft carrier Intrepid, the space shuttle Enterprise, the world’s fastest jets and a guided missile submarine.
Through exhibitions, educational programming and the foremost collection of technologically ground-breaking aircraft and vessels, visitors of all ages and abilities are taken on an interactive journey through history to learn about American innovation and bravery. Families can have their pick from two guided experiences on board the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
VIP Tour: Tour of Intrepid + Choice of Submarine, Concorde, or Space Shuttle Pavilion
Children and families will discover the history of the Intrepid while enjoying an up-close and personal look at the aircraft on the ship’s flight deck and listening to stories about the heroic aviators and sailors who served on board during this guided tour. From there, guests will have a choice to explore the Space Shuttle Pavilion, immerse themselves in the top-secret history of the submarine Growler, or take flight with the British Airways Concorde.
VVIP Tour: Ultimate Private Tour of Intrepid, Submarine, Concorde + Space Shuttle Pavilion
Take the experience a step further and book the Space Shuttle Experience, which will allow Peninsula guests the ultimate private experience. Not only will visitors discover the history of Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum with their own guide, they will also get a private tour of the submarine Growler, British Airways Concorde and the added bonus of an in-depth look at the Space Shuttle Pavilion, home to the space shuttle Enterprise, the original NASA orbiter that paved the way for the United States space program.
Children and families will also have the opportunity to receive an inside look at the T-34 Mentor and Sea Guard Helicopter on both tours, a unique option not available to the general public. These tours can be fully customized to the wishes of the guest and can be altered to incorporate stories and artifacts that most appeal to the group’s interests.
Guests who book this experience will receive an Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum visitor’s guide, a novelty souvenir from the museum and their very junior fighter pilot suit compliments of The Peninsula New York with included within the pricing.

Most programs are available with just a few days’ notice, so guests can choose activities according to their own interests and travel schedule. Reservations are subject to availability and advanced booking is highly recommended for all Academy programs.
The History of the Intrepid tour costs $630 during Museum hours and $930 after hours. The Space Shuttle Experience tour costs $1,130 during Museum hours and $1,630 after hours. A complimentary transfer from The Peninsula New York to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum can be arranged for a group of up to four people. For a group of five or more, an additional fee will apply.
