With summer receding in the rearview mirror, the holiday season steps into focus. And making sure it’s the most wonderful time of the year for everyone is the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club & Spa. This premier Gulf Coast resort in Alabama has developed a magical roundup of holiday events, ranging from Thanksgiving dinner to breakfast with Santa. Here’s what’s not to miss this season.
There’s plenty to appreciate when you’re celebrating Thanksgiving on property. In addition to the resort’s endless opportunities for relaxation (think white sand beaches, renowned golfing and cozy nights over a fire pit), there’s the holiday feast itself to savor. Guests can choose between dinner in The Dining Room, one of the best award-winning restaurants in Fairhope, Alabama, and a sumptuous ballroom buffet. Hotel rooms with resort views start at $279 per night.
SPREAD THE CHEER
Nothing creates holiday spirit faster than a few hundred poinsettias. And at the Grand, that’s just the beginning. On the day after Thanksgiving, the hotel displays its impressive Gingerbread Village whose main attraction is a replica of the Grand itself. It also trims a spectacular Christmas tree and, in a beloved tradition, bedecks the oak trees on property with twinkling white lights.
The presents under the tree aren’t the only packages to anticipate. Named one of the nation’s top resorts by Conde Nast Traveler, the Grand is offering several package deals to celebrate the season. Golfers can book a package for $259 per night that includes a round of golf for two, a golf cart and range balls, while history buffs can book the Civil War package for $239 per night. Spa packages start at $369, tennis packages start at $234 and the fun — no matter what you’re looking for — starts with these Gulf Coast accommodations. FootGolf is offered which blends soccer and golf on the Lakewood Club courses.
BREAKFAST WITH SANTA
Santa Claus is coming to town, and his first stop is his favorite hotel in Fairhope, Alabama. On November 28 and December 5, 12 and 19, Santa will be the guest of honor at the resort’s Four Diamond restaurant, Grand Steakhouse, following a decadent breakfast buffet between 7 and 10:30 a.m. Santa has to fly at 10 a.m., so be sure to snap your photo beforehand. Reservations are required.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Whether you’re looking for a big party (at the Saltwater Grill Seafood Extravaganza for two with live music and a champagne toast) or a quiet night with room service and a toasty fire, the Grand has the New Year’s Eve package deal for you. (Prices start at $339 per couple.) On New Year’s Day, set the tone for the year by watching the sunrise, taking a brisk walk, playing a round on the greens, unwinding with a spa treatment or writing resolutions on a hammock beneath the massive oak trees.
