Salon de ning introduces chic new look

Just in time for summer, Salon de Ning rooftop bar and terrace is introducing a fresh new look that will bring the cool, chic scene of the Hamptons to the center of midtown Manhattan. Ideally located on 55th Street and Fifth Avenue and occupying the 23rd floor of The Peninsula New York hotel, Salon de Ning boasts the most spectacular views of the glittering New York skyline and its streets below, making for the ideal rooftop venue beneath the city lights.

Salon de Ning’s new look encompasses a Hampton’s resort chic feel, complete with crisp linens, iron rod tables and chairs, enlarged umbrellas with canopies and six large lounge seating areas available on both the East and West Terraces. Available for the first time by reservation only, the lounge seating areas allow for an exclusive, relaxing experience ideally situated and overlooking the finest views of the bustling city. The landscape is dressed in lush plants and colorful florals to compliment the lively ambiance.

Indoors, an interior bar with an extensive and eclectic art collection fuses Chinese and international influences into a “Shanghai Deco,” look and feel, with a stylish mélange of cultures reflecting the glamour and style of 1930’s Shanghai – the “Paris of the East.” Designed by Henry Leung, the Hong Kong-based Design Director of Chhada, Siembieda Leung Limited, who has created several Chinese heritage projects for The Peninsula Hotels, Salon de Ning is based on the style of the traditional Shanghainese house named “Shikumen” (meaning “stone gate house” in Chinese).

A range of eclectic cocktails, wines by the glass, spirits, cigars and lite bites are available, along with an exclusive, locally-farmed Salon de Ning Oscietre Gold Caviar, created specifically for the bar and terrace and individually packaged in a Salon de Ning tin. This summer, the bar and lounge is thrilled to debut the “Island in the Sky” cocktail, an invigorating blend consisting of Pyrat XO Rum, Coconut Water, Cinnamon and Nutmeg to add to the list of signature cocktail offerings, alongside the ever-popular “Ning Sling.”

Additional cocktails making their debut at Salon de Ning this summer include:

– Dream of Jeannie: Ketel One Vodka, Koval Jasmine, lemon, Q soda
– Livet for the City: Glenlivet 12 Scotch Whisky, tamarind, lemon
– Greener Pastures: Żubrówka Bison Grass Vodka, aloe gel, lime, agave nectar
– Smoke on the Water: Los Amantes Mezcal, Bacardi Silver, Capellanno Chinato, Lejay Cassis
– Waterloo Sunset: Cava Gran Reserva, Plymouth Gin, St. Germain, Crème de Violette
– Strawberry Field Trip Punchbowl: Stoli Elit, Strawberry Sorbetta Liqueur, Lime, Cava Gran Reserva

Summer at Salon de Ning just got a lot hotter, as the bar and lounge will welcome Manhattan-based DJ, Gillian Sagansky to the rooftop each Tuesday evening beginning June 7, where a variety of fan favorites, unexpected remixes and dazzling tunes can be enjoyed by all from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Gillian is known for her well-versed knowledge of music and open-format repertoire that is known to liven up any crowd, night or day. Her previous work includes Oscar de la Renta, Salvatore Ferragamo, Bloomingdales, Conde Nast and more.

Established in May 2008, Salon de Ning is inspired by the fictitious tale of Madame Ning, a celebrated Shanghai socialite, avid world traveler and international hostess who presided over “salons” in her stylish and eclectic residences around the world, making her friends and guests feel at home in a warm and welcoming environment.

Salon de Ning is an exceptional choice for impressive cocktail receptions, private parties and group gatherings. With a capacity of 200, the bar and lounge is unquestionably the ultimate rooftop event venue in the city. Reservations for Salon de Ning are available for the couches or groups of 20 people or more.
